How Lifebank is Saving Lives in Africa Through Smart Healthcare Logistics

Founded by Temie Giwa – Tubosun and Ayo Michael Olufemi in 2016, LifeBank is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, and is dedicated to transforming the way blood is transmitted from labs to patients and doctors in hospitals.

The inspiration behind LifeBank’s creation is a sad reality that’s all too common in many African countries. We’ve all heard stories of patients rushing to hospitals in urgent need of blood transfusions, only to face a dire shortage of this life-saving resource.

The consequences are devastating, with many lives lost due to the lack of organization and infrastructure in hospitals.

This is precisely the problem that the founders decided to address when she founded LifeBank.

With a strong conviction that no African should die due to a shortage of essential medical products, such as blood bags, at the hospital level, LifeBank set out to provide a solution. And what a solution it has been! By connecting hospitals to blood banks and blood banks to donors, LifeBank has created a seamless and efficient system for delivering blood to those who need it most.

But that’s not all – the company also guarantees delivery in less than 55 minutes to hospitals and emergencies, all while maintaining a WHO and EU-recommended cold chain.

The numbers speak for themselves. As of January 2017, LifeBank had single-handedly delivered an impressive 1,100 liters of blood to patients in need across the country. This remarkable achievement is not only a testament to the company’s dedication but also an inspiration to young Africans who want to make a difference.

LifeBank’s impact extends far beyond the numbers, however. By tackling a critical challenge in the healthcare sector, the company is helping to build a more resilient and responsive health system in Nigeria and beyond.

As we shine the spotlight on LifeBank today, we celebrate not only its achievements but also its potential to drive meaningful change in the healthcare industry. We salute Temi Giwa-Tuboson and her team for their tireless efforts to ensure that every African has access to the medical resources they need to thrive. And we look forward to seeing the continued impact of LifeBank’s groundbreaking work in the years to come.

Join us in celebrating LifeBank on their remarkable journey so far, and let’s continue to support innovative solutions that are transforming the face of healthcare in Africa!
